I'm a 35 year old Wisconsinite. Born and raised, as they say.
In the past 6 months has seen a radical agenda imposed on us by a governor and legislative leadership with a strong authoritarian bent and a rather strong disregard for public opinion that doesn't agree doesn't agree with them..
It has been agony.
And it has been thrilling.
The public responded with largest prolonged protest movement in recent memory made up of a coalition of people that has not stood together for the same cause in several generations. One night when we were still occupying the capital around the clock I stood at the 1st floor balcony choked up at all I was seeing I have been distressed for years at the direction this country has been headed and the apathy shown by most towards this. Something powerful was waking up and it was moving to stand in its midst.
I've been politically informed for a while but I was never actively engaged. As with many others, these events have changed that. Ive been a part of the Wisconsin Spring. A small part. Just another face in and around the capital for the most part, just another person posting on facebook and tweeting about what was going on.
My intent is to continue speaking out. Hence this blog. If I hold to my intent, and these things, if they go anywhere at all, have a habit of evolving in odd and frequently unforeseeable directions, this will be a forum for my political musings. Please understand, though, that I have a very wide definition of politics. Politics effects our daily lives in numerous ways and is therefore personal. So while this is not a personal journal I will certainly touch on some more personal matters. probably religion and social commentary as well.
I've got a lot to say and no longer going to put off saying it.
